TULSA - Crews responded to a fully involved house fire in south Tulsa early Thursday morning, that left the home a total loss.
The fire was reported near 81st and Sheridan, on East 78th St. South.
The Tulsa Fire Department says it got the call around 5 a.m. that a fire started in one of the walls.
By the time crews arrived a whole side of the house was in flames.
Crews spent hours battling the flames. The district chief had to call firefighters out for safety many times due to the magnitude of the fire.
One of the homeowners, Sarah Ellison, said she had just pulled into the driveway when she smelled smoke.
"It’s one of those things that you think will never ever happen to you, you know? You walk into it and you just panic, and don’t know what to think or what to do.”
The department will be keeping an eye on the home all day and putting hot spots out as necessary.
