Unicorns aren’t, or were ever, real or were they?
A new study posted by Buzzfeed is suggesting that a skull with one horn attached used to walk the Earth.
Buzzfeed says the study calls the one-horned creature the Siberian unicorn. It goes on to say that the creature lived 29,000 years ago. Essentially around the same time that humans are said to have started walking the earth.
So, the mythical creature we talk about today could have been imagined from this real-life animal.
The Siberian Unicorn, known scientifically as Elasmotherium sibiricum, was actually closer in relation to the rhinoceros than the horse. Buzzfeed says the study suggests that its horn was several feet long.
While the “unicorn” didn’t have magical powers, Buzzfeed notes that it was around 6-feet tall, 15-feet and weighed four tons.
