OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An environmental activist whose work inspired an Academy Award-winning motion picture will speak next week at a town hall meeting about Oklahoma earthquakes.
The meeting will feature keynote speaker Erin Brockovich, the subject of the 2000 film "Erin Brockovich," from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Central Oklahoma's Constitution Hall in Edmond. Admission is free.
Oklahoma House Rep. Richard Morrissette, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, will introduce Brockovich. A panel discussion of lawyers, scientists and advocacy-groups will also speak.
Brockovich was a legal clerk who worked on a lawsuit against Pacific Gas and Electric Company of California. The suit resulted in a 1996 settlement of $333 million.
Since the lawsuit, Brockovich has worked as a consultant for consumer-advocacy firms, among other ventures.
