Protesters call for OKC ex-officer's conviction

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- About three dozen people are gathered near the Oklahoma County courthouse for a rally to call for the conviction of a former police officer accused of sexually victimizing 13 women.

The gathering Tuesday was billed as a "peaceful protest" in support of the alleged victims of former officer Daniel Holtzclaw, who faces 36 counts of rape, sexual battery and other charges.

The rally was so close to the courtroom windows where jurors are deliberating Holtzclaw's fate that a prosecutor came outside and asked the group to move.

The group, which had been chanting "36 counts" and "We want life," agreed to move farther away from the building.
