OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A federal prosecutor is asking Oklahomans statewide to turn in their old or unused prescription drugs.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is scheduled for Saturday and locations to accept the drugs will be available statewide from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats in Oklahoma City says the abuse of prescription drugs is one of the greatest threats to both public safety and public health and he encourages families to clean out medicine cabinets of unwanted, unneeded or expired prescription drugs.
Sites where the drugs will be accepted are available at the DEA Office of Diversion Control website where you can search by zip code, city, or state. The service is free and anonymous.
