CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. – Not long after the E.coli scare seemed to be over, a woman in Oklahoma filed a lawsuit against Chipotle.
Haley Hadlock, 25, is suing the popular fast-food joint for allegedly giving her E.coli. Hadlock says she had food from the location in Norman, Okla.
According to the lawsuit, Hadlock works near the Norman location and would frequently visit Chipotle. The document says “on or about November 18, 2015” Hadlock ordered something online from Chipotle for lunch.
Hadlock says she consumed the food during the dates Chipotle posted saying its product had possibly been contaminated with the bacteria. The chain's sales tanked since an E. coli outbreak that came to light at the end of October. Its problem worsened after a norovirus outbreak in Boston in early December that sickened dozens.
After testing positive for E. coli on November 25, Hadlock suffered from “severe lethargy and fatigue, as well as gastrointestinal discomfort.”
Hadlock is claiming strict liability, negligence and breach of warranty and is seeking $75,000 in damages.
The stores recently had delayed openings so employees could take part in a team meeting to discuss changes the company is making to tighten its food safety measures. Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. also says the company will thank employees for their work in recent weeks.
