OKLAHOMA CITY – A former band director from Luther Middle School was arrested for having sexual contact with a minor, according to police.
Oklahoma City police arrested Kyle Whitmus, 34, on complaint of five counts of sexual misconduct, including first degree rape, in regards to a sexual relationship involving a female under the age of 14 at the school.
Whitmus was suspended from teaching when the allegations surfaced in April 2015.
According to OKC police, a student informed their parent about the sexual relationship and that parent told the victim’s parent who then reported it to the police.
Investigators searched through the victim’s cell phone for sexual content sent to and from Whitmus’ phone.
Whitmus was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of rape in the first degree, three counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16 and one count of solicit sexual conduct with a minor. His bond was set at $200,000.
