NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The Norman City Council has passed a proclamation recognizing LGBT history month.
The Norman Transcript reports that Norman Mayor Lynne Miller proclaimed October as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender history month during the council's meeting on Tuesday.
Several members of the public were at the meeting clad in red in support of the proclamation.
The newspaper says a dispute broke out six years ago at a City Council meeting when a similar proclamation was considered.
