OKLAHOMA CITY – A day after the Oklahoma City Police Department’s investigation into the death of one of Chesapeake Energy’s co-founders found “nothing to suggest suicide,” the official autopsy report was made public.

According to the medical examiner report, Aubrey McClendon’s death was caused by a blunt force trauma involving the torso and extremities and postmortem thermal 3rd and 4th degree burns and charring. The cause of death was ruled as an accident.

The toxicological analysis revealed that no ethyl alcohol was detected in his cavity blood and his blood tested negative for carbon monoxide.

The energy tycoon died on March 2, just a day after a federal grand jury indicted him on a bid-rigging charge.

On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) released the results of an investigation, which included interviews with family and friends, that they said showed there was nothing to suggest it was a suicide.

Not long after McClendon’s death, the OKCPD held a press conference saying that he was driving over 75 mph and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
