KAY COUNTY, Okla. - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says they have found the body of a country singer who went missing in December.
According to OHP, Craig Strickland’s body was located in the original search area known as Bear Creek Cove near Kaw Lake.
Craig Strickland, 29, and Chase Moreland, 22, went on a duck hunting trip in December near Kaw Lake and were reported missing not long after on Dec. 27.
State troopers said they found Morland’s body at Kaw Lake in northern Oklahoma, according to NBC Oklahoma City station KFOR.
KFOR went on to report that police said nothing about what caused Morland’s death. They added that there were “no personal flotation devices in use.” According to state troopers, they believe the pair’s boat could have turned over in the lake.
The weekend of their planned trip was plagued by harsh wind, rain and sleet. Strong wind gusts and wind chills crept as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit, according to KFOR.
The last tweet reportedly sent by Morland, around the time of their trip, talks about heading into the storm to go duck hunting.
In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. ? #IntoTheStorm
