TULSA - USA Gymnastics hosted its last day of the 2016 Stars and Stripes Championships in Tulsa Sunday.
Qualifying gymnasts from around the country competed for the top six spots in various events and age groups.
“If you make the podium it’s a really big accomplishment. You’ve done your work at home, definitely," said Patti Conner, the competition director.
And one coach knew a thing or two more than the rest about gold medals. Future Rio Olympian Logan Dooley was at the competition coaching his own gymnasts before competing himself August 13.
“It’s an amazing feeling, it’s a lifetime of hoping and wanting, and it’s finally coming true." Dooley said.
He's was an alternate gymnast in both Beijing and London, but is guarunteed a spot to compete trampoline in Rio.
