Search Continues for man missing in Skiatook Lake.

Posted
SKIATOOK, OKLA--  “You're absolutely helpless when someone winds up missing," said Bystander Bob Baker.

Bob Baker said he and his family were boating on Skiatook Lake when a nearby boat alerted him not to anchor, because a person who went under water hadn't resurfaced.

“We tried to call the emergency number and my wife was not able to get through and during that 5 to 10 minutes, which seemed like it lasted about 20 minutes there was just a sense of urgency before the first responders got there," said Baker.

OHP officials said Chance Humble went missing in the lake after jumping off the back of a boat.

They said he went under water, resurfaced, then never returned. OHP is actively searching for Humbles body.

“The topography under water is several shelves of cliff rock and stuff like that. It goes down to deep dust pretty quick and there's several ledges we’re having to search underneath also." said OHP Dive Team Commander, Lt. Jeff James.

OHP is using sonar equipment during the search. However, crews have been experiencing entanglement issues under water.

“There is a ton of fishing line down there right off of these cliffs there are several trees that have submerged and the fishing line gets tangled up in the trees," said Lt. James.

Baker said he hopes Humble’s body is found soon, to give his loved ones closure.

“Our hearts and our prayers go out to that family, obviously. It was devastating for everybody," said Baker.
