LE FLORE COUNTY, Okla. -- A Sallisaw man is dead after authorities say he drowned Sunday morning in LeFlore County.

Deputies say 21-year-old Jacob Lewis was struggling while swimming with another person at a rock quarry in the Short Mountain area.

According to deputies, Lewis tried to hold onto the other swimmer, but he went under and never resurfaced.

Crews recovered Lewis's body around 10 Sunday morning in 19 feet of water. Deputies say he wasn't wearing a flotation device.
