Pets Well Pantry will be front and center at the 2016 Blue Dome Art Festival as the first locally owned and operated organic gourmet dog food truck in the Tulsa area.
Selling only hand crafted fresh to order items with all natural ingredients, Pets Well Pantry is adding dozens of clients each month and creating a buzz within the Tulsa food truck industry.
Pets Well Pantry owner, Lien Alsup, began cooking for her dogs over eight years ago and says friends took notice to the quality and nutritious foods Alsup was feeding her dogs.
“When I got my first dog I researched all health food and everything for dogs and I realized that the quality of commercial dog food is just, what it is. There's not very much nutritional value in it. It's made from a lot of junk,” Alsup.
Alsup transformed an in home hobby into a business operation after orders started to flood in with friends and family wanting healthier food for their dogs. Aslup uses all locally sourced products and cooks the food at Kitchen 66 near downtown.
Although many food trucks operate by selling food only at disclosed locations using social media, Alsup has successfully used delivery services, location announcements, and even shipping services to meet the needs of her clients.
Alsup's organic food is a bit expensive ranging anywhere from $12.00 to $24.00 per item depending on the amount of food in each bag.
However, Alsup says there are methods to maintaining the health of a dog using her products while also saving money.
“One of the best ways to do it is we encourage our pet parents to add our food to the dry kibble. So that way they're pet is eating a wholesome diet every single day and it's cost effective,” Alsup said.
