OSBI investigates fatal officer-involved shooting in Chickasha, Oklahoma

CHICKASHA, Okla. -- One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Chickasha early Saturday morning.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says police responded to a call around 2 in the morning Saturday about a man with a gun.

When officers arrived and entered the house, agents say the suspect, Steve Vananda, grabbed a gun.

The suspect and the officer then exchanged fire, according to a statement from OSBI. The officer is now on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.
