TULSA - Two suspects are in custody after the Tulsa Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a man and a woman led authorities on two separate car chases just before 4 a.m. Saturday.
Arrested in connection with the multiple pursuits in south Tulsa were Jerimiah Seals, 27, and Cassandra Gifford, 23, who officers say led the OHP and TPD in two separate pursuits.
The first began when authorities say they tried to stop a grey Honda that was speeding. They say the suspects eluded officers at about 71st and Wheeling but TPD found the car abandoned at a restaurant in the area.
While looking for the suspects, TPD received a call of an auto theft and officers say they spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving a gated community near 73rd and Lewis. As officers pursued this vehicle, they noticed the Chrysler appeared to be driven by the suspects they earlier had chased. Police say the suspects attempted to flee in the Chrysler.
The suspects entered Highway 75 and headed south, according to the TPD. Officers terminated the chase when the suspects began driving the wrong way on the highway. When the suspects crossed over to drive in the right direction, officers said they resumed the pursuit.
Stop sticks laid in the road damaged at least one of the tires on the car and police say the vehicle crashed into a ditch at 88th and Union. The driver and the female passenger fled on foot. Police say they found the female passenger hiding in a nearby residence where she had kicked in the door to a shed located at the house.
Both suspects were booked into Tulsa County Jail on several counts of burglary, two auto thefts, and eluding officers.
