TULSA - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the 15-year-old driver of a car is dead, and the 15-year-old passenger is in stable condition following a crash near the border of Tulsa and Sapulpa.
Authorities said they attempted to pull over a 2007 Cadillac because it was reported stolen. The driver didn't stop, so a pursuit ensued.
Eventually the car went off the side of the road hitting trees and rolling before it came to a stop at 33rd West Avenue near 78th Street.
A couple who lives across the street says they heard the crash last night.
"When I came out here, I smelled the smoke and saw the policemen. They had a girl, and you could tell she was young," says Nancy Wright.
OHP says the passenger was ejected from the vehicle, but she was transported to St. Francis Hospital in stable condition.
However, the driver was reported dead on scene.
OHP says there were seatbelts in the car, but they only know for sure that the driver was wearing one. Troopers are also still investigating the cause of the crash.
2 Works for You Reporter Gitzel Puente spoke to a man who was at the scene of the crash. He identified as the uncle of the teens involved in the crash.
He says they were cousins.
