Police: Officer hurt after being assaulted in north Tulsa

TULSA -- A police officer was injured when a suspect allegedly assaulted him in north Tulsa.

Police say they responded to reports of an abandoned car Saturday morning near Harvard and Pine.They say when they got there, someone was in the car.

As they tried to get the person out of the vehicle, police said the car backed into the police cruiser.

Then, police said a fist fight occurred between the officer and the suspect, who was identified as Anthony Pursell, 23.

They say officers tasered Pursell. Police say they found a gun and a large quantity of meth in the car.

Pursell was arrested on counts of assault and battery on a police officer in addition to numerous drug-related counts.
