TULSA - Special interest groups have spent nearly $3 million dollars on political advertising related to states questions on this year’s ballot. The figures only cover what has been spent through Monday on over the air television ads. It does not count ads bought for cable or other media, including online and radio ads.
There are seven state questions on this year’s ballot. According to a report from the Center For Public Integrity, groups spent $1.1 million on television advertising for State Question 792 asking to allow strong wine and beer sales at grocery and convenience stores.
Three other state questions also spending money on adverting, totaling almost $3 million in Oklahoma.
The Center for Public Integrity found more than 3,800 ads have aired so far.
The most money – more than $1 million-- was spent to support question 792 to change Oklahoma’s alcohol laws.
