A woman was arrested on Wednesday morning near the grounds of the U.S. Capitol after trying to attack police officers, according to reports.
ABC News reported that the female suspect rammed a police car and tried, unsuccessfully, to run over several officers.
The Washington Post reported that the incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. local time outside the Rayburn building on the Capitol grounds.
Witnesses near the scene said they heard gunshots during the incident. Several reports indicated it was unclear who fired shots but a District of Columbia police spokesperson told the Associated Press "it's possible" they were fired by a police officer.
No one was hit by any gunfire, according to the Post.
The incident forced some government buildings in the area to be locked down temporarily.
