A 56-year-old Baltimore hall monitor is in serious condition after he was shot at Frederick Douglass High School on Friday.

A 25-year-old male suspect is in custody.

At about noon local time, the suspect tried to enter Frederick Douglass High School. He reached the front door of the school. That's when the hall monitor confronted the suspect and the shooting occurred.

Police believe the suspect is an "outside person" who wanted to confront someone in the school.

At that point, the school went into lockdown. All students were later dismissed. No student was injured in the incident.

This marks the sixth shooting in 2019 on a school or college campus during which classes were in session. See the other shootings in the map below.

More on this as it develops.
