Mom gives birth to baby after flight leaving Tampa lands in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For one family, it's a Thanksgiving they will never forget.

A mother gave birth to a healthy baby girl Wednesday after her flight out of Tampa landed in Charlotte, according to ABC-affiliate station WSOC-TV.

According to American Airlines, emergency crews responded to a passenger needing assistance after American Airlines Flight 868 landed in Charlotte. Both the girl and the mother were taken to the hospital after the deliver, WSOC reports.

"The crowd at the terminal burst into spontaneous applause," said witness Eric Linne in a Facebook post.
