Innovators who need funding for their big ideas may be eligible to get help from Google.

The giant internet and tech company announced it will commit $1 billion over the next five years to give to nonprofits in need of seed funding and ongoing support. Nonprofits who are potential grant recipients must "use technology and innovation to tackle complex global challenges," Google said.

Information on this initiative is available at www.google.org.

Google says it is aiming to close the world's education gap and it wants to aid in providing the best tools and resources to students and teachers. It will "support nonprofit innovators using technology to create new scalable education solutions" through the $1 bill commitment.
