As first reported by What's on Netflix, the final day for "Friends" on Netflix will be December 31, 2019. The show is scheduled to be removed from the steaming service January 1, 2020.

The news matches a July 9, 2019 tweet from Netflix stating, "The One Where We Have To Say Goodbye. We’re sorry to see Friends go to Warner's streaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in The US). Thanks for the memories, gang."

A year ago, "Friends" was slated to be removed from the Netflix platform. After immediate backlash, WarnerMedia and Netflix reached a one-year agreement.

Sadly for Netflix users, that year has passed.

Even more sadly for "Friends" is it appears that the sitcom will go several months without a streaming home. "Friends" is slated to join the HBO Max lineup at the start of its launch, which isn't until May 2020.

I guess you could say "we are on a break."

Joining "Friends" to leave Netflix for HBO Max will be another popular NBC contemporary "The West Wing."

While not as immediate, "The Office" is slated to leave Netflix at the end of 2020.

To replace these popular series, Netflix reached a deal with Sony for the catalog for "Seinfeld." The pricey deal was reportedly for $425 million.
