After the House of Representatives approved a continuing resolution to keep the government funded for two weeks, the Senate approved the resolution in a bipartisan vote on Thursday.
The federal government was set for a partial shutdown at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.
The bill will go to the President's desk, where he is expected to sign it.
The continuing resolution keeps the government funded for two weeks, until Dec. 22. The continuing resolution keeps a status quo level of government spending.
