After a tough week for the new iPhones, Apple has provided some relief for customers.
Many iPhone users downloaded a botched update to the iPhone's operating system Wednesday, which interfered with cell service and the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 6.
After a day in the dark for many customers, Apple has since postedinstructions on its website to restore the old operating system. It requires plugging the phone into a computer with iTunes.
Users who did not download the 8.0.1 update -- which was only available Wednesday morning -- are not affected. Apple said on its website that it will release another update in the next few days.
Many iPhone users were left without a fix from Wednesday until Thursday morning. They took to Twitter to express their frustration.

The release of iOS 8 coincided with the unveiling of the iPhone 6 on Sept. 19. It can also be installed on some older iPhones: the 4S, 5, 5C and 5S.
The newest issue comes days after reports surfaced that the new iPhone 6 Plus can develop a kink in its aluminum frame from sitting in a tight jeans pocket. Demonstration videos showed the weak point to be near the volume buttons.
A spokesperson at Apple could not be reached for comment.
