Accused Waffle House shooter Travis Reinking pleads not guilty

Posted

Accused Waffle House shooter Travis Reinking pleaded not guilty on Wednesday morning on charges related to the 2018 shooting at the Antioch, Tennessee, restaurant.

Reinking did not appear in court; his lawyer entered the plea on his behalf.

Back in August of 2018, a judge ordered him to be placed in a mental health facility until he is competent to stand trial. The Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute later ruled that Reinking was competent to continue the judicial process.

Reinking was indicted on 17 counts, including first-degree murder charges in the killing of four people — Taurean Sanderlin, Joe Perez, DeEbony Groves and Akilah Dasilva.
