A Maryland teen’s outfit for his school’s “Culture Day,” is garnering lots of reaction through social media, says Huffington Post.

Josh Welch, 17, is a white man from Silver Spring, Maryland and this year at his high school he decided to dress as a thief to make a statement about cultural appropriation.

“I consider myself a huge advocate for social justice, and I wanted to make a bold statement about ‘white culture,’” he told The Huffington Post Wednesday. “So I decided to use humor to get my point across, but I never imagined it could be this ubiquitous.”

Welch told Huffington Post that he’s received negative feedback but that it’s been “overshadowed” by the positive responses he’s received.
