INDEPENDENCE, KS - A jury in Montgomery County, Kansas convicted a man of several felonies stemming from an Oklahoma chase and shooting of a police officer a year ago.

Alejandro Arturo Garcia-Garcia, a.k.a. Alex Garcia, a.k.a. Alejandro Garcia, 23, was found guilty of one count of attempted capital murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of burglary and one count of interference with law enforcement, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Garcia-Garcia faces additional charges in Oklahoma in connection to the shooting of Oologah police officer Charles Nell.

A Talala police officer pulled over Garcia-Garcia and two other suspects for speeding in May of last year. The trio fled the scene with officers from Talala, Oologah and other agencies in pursuit. The chase ended in Montgomery County, where Garcia-Garcia also shot at a sheriff's deputy.

Garcia-Garcia will be formally sentenced on June 16 in Montgomery County. He is yet to be tried in Oklahoma.
