DELAWARE COUNTY, Okla. -- Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash Sunday afternoon in Delaware County.
Troopers say 64-year-old William Burtchett of Drumright swerved his vehicle to avoid hitting a dog walking across the Cherokee Turnpike just east of the Kansas border.
The maneuver caused the vehicle to hit a retaining wall and spin. Troopers say William was ejected 30 feet onto the roadway, and his passenger, 69-year-old Debra Burtchett was pinned for about 25 minutes.
Both were airlifted to a hospital in Arkansas with serious injuries, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
