HUGHES COUNTY, Okla. -- Authorities are investigating after a Hughes County Sheriff's Office deputy was found dead Sunday night.
Officials said at about 10 p.m. Sunday, reports of shots fired came from a Seminole County home. When emergency responders arrived, deputy Seth Mason was found unconscious. Efforts were made to save his life, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
Officials said Mason was hired by the Sheriff's Office on his 21st birthday, and he was with the department for seven months.
He also served with Hughes County Emergency Medical Services as an EMT for more than a year.
The death is under investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
