TULSA, Okla. — Do you have any leftover candy lying around your home after Halloween, and don't know what to do with it?
Some Tulsa businesses are collecting the extra sweets and giving you cash back for it!
Will Family Chiropractic on 15th Street is giving $1 for every pound of candy up to five pounds.
This is their second annual Candy Buy Back Program.
"We know that sugar negatively affects our immune system, and so we wanted to take an opportunity to one say thank you to our troops, but also help our kids and families be more healthy as we head into the holiday season," says Quinn Will, owner and doctor at Will Family Chiropractic.
Anyone who donates will also receive a raffle ticket to win prizes, including a new bicycle and board games. The raffle will take place on November 10, and you don't have to be present to win.
His office is also partnering with Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that sends care packages overseas to deployed troops, first responders, veterans and military families.
Each year, the organization teams up with dentists and businesses across the U.S. to collect candy for their "Halloween Candy Give-Back Program."
According to a Facebook post on the nonprofit's page, they are expecting to collect between 400,000 to 500,000 pounds of candy. Then, they will box the sweets in care packages and ship them to the troops.
Will Family Chiropractic will be collecting candy on Wednesday, November 6 during their normal business hours from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
The office is located on 1826 E. 15th St., Tulsa.
