VIDEO: WWII bomber makes stop in Tulsa

Posted

TULSA - Just as the new-age Solar Impulse 2 is about to leave Tulsa, a classic B-17 lands in Green Country.

The Flying Fortress, a World War II bomber plane, landed at R.L. Jones Airport Friday afternoon.

The plane flies across the U.S. making stops to educate the public about vintage military aircraft and its role in history.

"We get to travel around the country and show many people what their parents and grandparents flew during the war," said pilot Eric Aldrich. "You would not be able to see this except for us being on tour with it."

The Flying Fortress is one of 9 B-17s currently flying in the world today. It will be in Tulsa for three days.
