TULSA, Okla. — The Woody Guthrie Center is turning 6, and officials are planning six days of events to celebrate.

The festivities kicked off on Tuesday night with a "members only" party.

On Wednesday, there is a screening of a BBC documentary, Three Chords and the Truth, which was made about Guthrie.

And this weekend there are free concerts at Guthrie Green to showcase the songwriter's message of diversity, equality and social justice.

"It's all the same message about creativity and the importance of the arts as a way of expressing the world around you,” WGC executive director Deana McCloud said.

The center is home to Woody Guthrie’s archives and serves as an educational resource for teachers and students.
