We all want to keep our neighborhoods beautiful, but what happens when it's out of your control?

One midtown woman had no luck getting a company to clean up the back of their business, so she called problem solver Travis Guillory -- who sprung into action.

Cherry Street is a booming district with trendy restaurants and eclectic shops.

But just one block over - not so much.

"I see there's a lot of trash and debris and really gross stuff going on inside,” resident Candice Rex said. “And I think they should clean it up."

Rex lives near Cherry Street a sees the back of a business every day - with less than charming curb appeal

"It began as just an inconvenience of the gate covering the sidewalk," Rex said.

A gate fell over and blocks the sidewalk, which exposed trash and other rubbish.

"It's kind of annoying because whenever she goes on her run, she has to run out in the street, and there are cars always coming,” Candice’s son Jackson said. “Whenever I ride my bike, she says to stay on the sidewalk. I can't do that because the fence is down."

But as time went on, the problem grew from being just an eyesore with exposed garbage and some rotting wood to being a health and safety hazard.

"I've even seen a mouse last week, and it gives me a bad feeling just knowing that there are restaurants right around the building," Candice said.

Rex says she's called the property management company that maintains the building multiple times but has mostly just been able to leave voicemails.

"The one time I got her, she said, 'oh, yeah. I'll send someone.' they never did," Candice said.

Candice’s next phone call - was to the Problem Solvers, who immediately emailed the company to see if they were aware of the issue and if they had plans to fix it.

Two days later, Rex texted us a picture – which showed no trash, no wood, and no gate. There were even happy dogs on the sidewalk.

Giving the neighborhood a little facelift for one of Tulsa's beloved treasures.

"It's a great place because it is so busy, and the population is so active,” Candice said. “We love farmer's market. We love these restaurants. We love our cherry street vendors."

If you know of a home, neighborhood, or street that is an eyesore and filled with trash -- you should first call the property manager -- then the city.
