SAND SPRINGS — A pig rescue that's been running for 15 years in Sand Springs is closing up shop, but someone else is prepared to take over.

Hamalot has rescued hundreds of pigs throughout the state -- but now a woman is says the couple who runs it is getting older, so she will take over and move the pigs to a farm.

Sonny Hardiman says people need to know the commitment of a so-called "micro mini tea cup pig" before taking on a 20 year responsibility.

"A year later when the big is giant and they are having these behaviors and people are reaching out pleading with us - or abandoning the pigs," Hardiman said.

Hardiman says the rescue will expand across the state and they will be able to take in more animals.
