A woman is recovering after being stuck in her car for over 12 hours until she was able to escape.
Linda Cravens was rescued Friday morning after she crashed into a ravine in Osage County Thursday afternoon and was stranded for 17 hours. Craven said she lost control of her car on a winding road and went off an embankment, then hit a tree.
Meanwhile at Craven's house, her family started to get worried after she hadn't come home in several hours and she didn't answer her phone.
They reached out to the sheriff's office and filed a missing persons report.
Craven’s daughter, Melissa, says she barely got any sleep Thursday night waiting to hear news from her mom.
Melissa Cravens says her mother was honking her horn trying to get drivers; attention but she was out of sight.
Then, she tried crawling out of her car several times but kept rolling down the hill because of her broken ankle.
"She had to crawl out of her car and crawl down this very steep embankment during a rainstorm," said Melissa Cravens.
Around 5 a.m. Friday morning two oil field workers found Craven down an embankment, 24 miles from her home.
“She had this flashlight in her purse and took it up the embankment and waved it around,” said Melissa Cravens.
The Hominy Fire Department responded to the scene after the oil workers called for help.
Melissa Cravens said this situation could have been much easier if her mother had had her cellphone with her, which she left at home.
She says she's proud of her mother's fighting spirit.
“I saw my mom's face in that truck, and it was the best moment of my life," said Cravens.
