Woman killed in Blackwell officer-involved shooting

BLACKWELL, Okla. — A woman was killed in an early morning officer-involved shooting in Blackwell on Monday.

Blackwell police said at about 3 a.m., Blackwell police officers received calls that shots were fired and a vehicle had been struck in the 1300 block of South Main. Police said they then received additional calls that shots were being fired from a white pickup truck at various locations around town.

Officers located the pickup truck, and then a pursuit began and shots were exchanged. The driver of the pickup came to a stop at 13th and Doolin Avenue.

Officers said they found Michael Ann Godsey, 34, dead in the driver seat.

Two Blackwell police officers were involved in the shooting. One sustained minor injuries from the incident. Both are on paid administrative eave.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
