TULSA – A woman was reportedly found in a car with bullet wounds to the chest Wednesday evening at Harvard and Wood Road, says Tulsa police.
The victim was sitting in the car outside a church in a parking lot and, according to police, she was an innocent bystander in the situation.
According to the woman, she was leaving Bible class at World One for Christ when she was shot in the chest.
Tulsa police believe that more than one person might be involved in the shooting. They say three white males reportedly escaped on foot from the parking lot after the incident.
Church members told 2 Works for You that the incident surprised and scared them because they were just inside the church when it reportedly occurred.
"I can remember when church grounds and a church building was sacred [sic] and if you was doing anything you didn't do it on the church ground you would move over and then you would do whatever but now people just don't care anymore,” said church member Linda Graham.
The woman, who appeared to be in her sixties, was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently stable, says Tulsa police.
