Woman escapes house fire in south Tulsa

A woman escaped her home safely after it caught fire early Thursday morning in south Tulsa.

Tulsa Fire said the official cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials believe the blaze might have started with a car parked outside the home.

Officials said the fire moved from the car, to the garage, and then up into the attic.

Firefighters said the homeowner escaped the flames uninjured with her two dogs, but her cat has not been found.

"The fire was a difficult fire to knock out based on the construction of the house," District Chief Douglas Carner said. "It appears there were areas in the attic that allowed the fire to go in areas that we couldn't find."

Officials said 50 percent of the home is damaged and it is unlivable.
