TULSA — Nearly a year after a toddler died in Tulsa, charges have been filed in the case.
Police say Cindy Merari Ayala-Villamil ran over a 2-year-old boy back in March 2018 in the 100 block of North Erie Avenue.
Ayala-Villamil told officers that she was at the home visiting family, and as she was leaving, had one of the kids playing in the street to tell the other children to get out of the way.
The child Ayala-Villamil spoke to told police he did not remember that conversation, police said.
Police said Ayala-Villamil got into her truck, began driving and felt a bump, but didn't stop until she looked in the mirror and saw a child lying in the street.
Prosecutors are now charging her negligent homicide with a motor vehicle.
