Whirlpool Corporation confirms Tulsa plant temporarily closed due to COVID-19 cases

TULSA — Whirlpool Corporation says it's Tulsa plant is temporarily closing, effective immediately, due to confirmed coronavirus cases.

The corporation is investigating each coronavirus case which includes contact tracing.

Officials did not say how many total COVID-19 cases were confirmed at the plant. Officials said individuals who came in contact with a diagnosed employee have been contacted and are in quarantine.

The health and safety of our employees and the community are our top priority. We can’t comment on individual employee situations, but every action we take at the plant is for the health and safety of our people.

Officials said the plant is cleaned regularly per CDC guidelines and will be cleaned prior to reopening.

The Whirlpool Corporation plans to reopen the plant early next week. Officials said employees will be contacted directly with more information.

The corporation said they will continue their safety protocols which include:

  • heightened cleaning protocols
  • increased distances on our production lines
  • daily onsite temperature checks
  • requiring all employees wear a mask
  • ensuring employees have proper sanitization equipment
