TULSA -- A massive water line break flooded the roadway at 21st and Peoria on Tuesday afternoon in midtown Tulsa.

City of Tulsa crews are working on the break, and it is expected to be repaired by midnight. The intersection is impassible and drivers are urged to find an alternate route.

The break caused the roadway to buckle. City officials said there have been an abnormal number of water line breaks in the last month as the state is near drought conditions, which causes shifts in the ground.

Officials said the intersection could be closed for the next week or two.

About 15 homes are without water due to the break as of Tuesday evening.

So far, the city has not received any reports of anyone's water in the area being affected. Crews are going to work through the night to fix the break.
