Watch live forum with Cherokee Nation principal chief candidates tonight

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — As the race for the next Cherokee Nation Principal Chief heats up even more, the candidates will participate in a panel on Thursday night.

The 7 p.m. public forum will be livestreamed, and you can watch by clicking hereor by watching the video player below. It also will be available on RSU Public TV.

All three candidates – Chuck Hoskin Jr., Dick Lay and David Walkingstick are expected to participate. The Cherokee Nation Supreme Court last year ruled that current principal chief Bill John Baker could not run for a third term.

According to the tribe, the question panel includes Brandon Scott, executive editor of the Cherokee Phoenix, and Graham Lee Brewer, contributing editor for Tribal Affairs and High Country News. RSU TV General Manager Royal Aills will moderate the forum.

The Cherokee Nation 2019 General Election is June 1.
