Volunteers take part in bicycle build party

TULSA — Some volunteers used elbow grease to build 270 bikes to help children.

They worked together at park elementary - as part of a bicycle build party.

The bikes they make go to different after-school bike clubs within Tulsa Public Schools, where students can take part in activities like field trips.

One volunteer says riding a bike can keep kids healthy.

"We think that if we can help teach bike safety in our after school clubs, that just helps kids learn a life skill, where they can start doing, exercising," volunteer Gary Percefull said.

Most of the bikes being built are for kids - 8 to 10 years old.
