TULSA — Cinco de Mayo is a day of celebration around the world.
However, for one local restaurant owner, today is not just a day of celebration, it's a day of longing.
Elote Cafe & Catering is known not only for their one-of-a-kind puffy tacos, but for their Cinco de Mayo Luchador Wrestling celebrations in downtown Tulsa.
For the past 10 years, the mexican restaurant, located off 5th and Boston, has held a luchador wrestling match for Cinco de Mayo.
The streets fill with Tulsans enjoying puffy tacos and margaritas, with kids in masks running around, all while watching Mexican wrestling.
Today, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Elote Cafe is unable to celebrate their 10th year of Luchador Wrestling.
"We are sad that we can't spend it on Boston Ave, enjoying Margaritas, kids in masks, puffy tacos and Mexican wrestling, everyone," says an Elote Cafe & Catering Facebook post. "Know that we will return & next year's Cinco will be bigger & better than ever!"
Therefore, a group ofElote's luchadores, both past and present, came together to celebrate in a special and unique way.
