Union Public Schools to break ground on 14th elementary school

TULSA -- Union Public Schools announced that it plans to break ground on its fourteenth elementary school in July.

The new school, scheduled to open in the fall of 2017, will undergo three stages of construction through 2019.

The first phase of the project will include the following, according to Union Public Schools.

  • 24 regular classrooms
  • 1 Special Education classroom
  • Main Office
  • Kitchen and Cafeteria
  • Second floor outdoor classroom
  • Outdoor eating patio off the cafeteria
  • Media Center
  • Kindergarten – 5th Grade
  • Playgrounds

“Although Union has previously modified existing school buildings to provide additional community based services, Elementary 14 will be Union Public Schools’ first elementary designed and built with the community school concept in mind,” said Lee Snodgrass, executive director of special projects.

The ground breaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on July 12 at 12000 East 31st Street.
