TULSA – Union Public Schools sent a message on Wednesday in an effort to squash any rumors revolving around a popular social media website.

The issue was in relation a “baseless rumor,” as Union schools told parents of sixth and seventh graders, about a potential safety problem that originated on Snapchat.

According to the statement sent Wednesday, the first “intruder on campus” drill was held Tuesday after a parent emailed the school saying a student claimed that a threatening post was made on the aforementioned social media site.

“We thoroughly investigated and found no evidence to support the online rumor that has rapidly spread. We ask for your assistance in having a conversation with your child about the importance of being responsible while on social media,” posted the school. “Social media is not the place to report safety concerns. You may always call the school during school hours or use our safety hotline 24 hours a day. That number is 918-505-9802.”
