ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. — Two people died after a crash on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Claremore late Tuesday night.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. in the westbound lanes four miles east of Claremore.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials say Benjamin Stegall, 79, of Tulsa, was traveling westbound on I-44 in a 2006 Honda Accord when for an unknown reason, he departed the roadway to the right and struck an embankment, at which point the vehicle rolled numerous times.

Stegall and an 86-year-old passenger, Jessie Conatzer, of Tulsa, both died. Stegall was pronounced dead by EMS crews and Conatzer died on Wednesday night due to injuries suffered in the collision.
