OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. -- Two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were injured  after a vehicle ran into a patrol car Monday night.

According to OHP, troopers were investigating a fatal crash on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Miami when a driver struck the patrol car from behind, causing the car to collide with another OHP vehicle.

Both troopers were treated for their injuries and released.

"We were just lucky the driver that hit us wasn't going 70 mph, or the troopers weren't hurt worse,” said OHP trooper Dwight Durant.

The driver who crashed into the patrol car wasn’t injured, but was cited for reckless driving.

Troopers were originally called to the scene to investigate a fatal crash in which a 31-year-old woman was killed
